In order to enhance colleagues' self-awareness and stress adjustment methods, and to implement and promote counseling work and create a safe and healthy campus environment, our school will handle the introduction of the Ministry of Interior into its affiliated institutions from 2:30 to 4:30 pm on September 21, 2020. (Organization) The school's EAP special lecture - "People have changed! Emotions have also changed!". Professor Shen Shengang, director of the school's mental health center, was specially invited to give the lecture. Colleagues from the Ministry of the Interior and affiliated agencies were invited to participate online, and physical lectures were also held. Seed care staff and faculty colleagues from all units are invited to participate.
"Only when a person's self-image is based on one's true emotions rather than on some superficial (or external) characteristics, can it be possible to get rid of melancholy (uncomfortable) emotions."

Director Shen quoted this passage from Alice Miller (1979) to explain the origin of emotional distress; different life events and accumulation of life experiences develop different life styles and construct socialized selves. However, if the "real self", "social self", and "ideal self" cannot converge, it will take a lot of effort to achieve spiritual balance.

"Emotions are a result, not a cause; however, poor emotional handling can lead to worse results."

Driven by the survival instinct, a newborn child shows the "real me" with basic emotions such as "fear, anger...". After the age of 2 to 3 years old, it depends on the caregiver's response, education, upbringing, etc. The "reactions" brought about by the child will develop "guilt, shame"... etc., and various emotions will be elaborately developed; on the other hand, if the main caregiver educates the child's behavior, he can only "reward" and "Punishment", then the emotions cannot be completely differentiated, the perception of emotions is also low, and it is difficult to have good emotional expression ability.
"See your truest self from your emotions" and then learn to express your emotions appropriately.

Director Shen said that from emotions we can understand ourselves clearly and understand others more specifically; when we can increase our awareness of our emotions, we can express our emotions more appropriately; therefore, emotions are a kind of thing that can be "learned" "With the ability to practice", make a list, organize and record your emotions, understand which emotions are often involved and which emotions are entangled in certain situations and events, and practice thinking from another perspective to see if you will feel differently. Through practice, you will understand yourself better, be able to express your emotions more appropriately, and have better ways of responding to situations.

During the speech, Director Shen explained the development, occurrence, awareness, and management of emotions from biology, psychology, and sociology in simple and easy-to-understand terms. Through this speech, colleagues from the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the seed care staff and teachers from various units of the school were able to Colleagues can better understand their own emotions, learn to deal with emotional dilemmas, build stronger emotional intelligence, and apply these skills to their own lives and work to help everyone improve their quality of life and achieve more success and satisfaction.
